G&T/ P4C/ Tracking
The focus of the project is:
How can we use recent developments in P4C to help raise achievement in groups of our identified G&T/ More Able children?
Describe how your proposed project is innovative and explain how it ensures the development of excellence?
As part of RAP plan initiatives already ongoing we have a Bradford Talking Partners project in school. Our action research plan will take some of the ideas of that small group focused work forward targeting more able. We will then feed back into classes via collaboration, observation, and INSET with class teachers.
What is the time frame/plan of action for your project?
• Children initially identified July 2008
• Reviewed (new entrants/class) September 2008.
• Begin groups October 2008 – run through to April/May 2009. Aim to work on debating with partner school Spring term 2009 (develop network)
• Evaluate June/July 2009
What are your process of evidence collection and evaluation to measure impact (methodology)?
• Existing tracking systems gathering achievement/attainment data, continue refining to include greater variety data.
• Link with Bradford Talking Partners – before and after data
• Use of recordings/ transcripts/(videos?) to unpick details
What outcomes are you expecting – how could these be demonstrated/shared?
• greater involvement of children across curriculum (observations, work with class teacher)
• identified improvement of reading ( evidence from sessions, reading scores and reading lists, Library assistant involved (Accelerated reading programme))
• cascade of techniques/outcomes through school (staff meetings, evidence of classroom practice, observations, interviews)
• increased level 5 scores at KS2 SATs, RELATIVE TO CLASS’ PREVIOUS PERFORMANCE AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES.
