* A fun way to introduce a cross curricular s{blocked}s based curriculum
* A practical insight into the world of media
* Practical ICT
* Primary / Secondary partnership
* ....and more!!

We are introducing a radio station into our school and through Pfe have
purchased professional equipment. We have now installed the sound systems
across the school which will enable us to broadcast to classrooms, halls and
playgrounds.

Children have been recruited as the broadcasting committee and have started
to look at programme scheduling. They have been trained in the technical
aspects of programming and are almost ready to 'go on air'.

The aim is for all classes to plan within their curriculum themes items to
be broadcast on Oakthorpe Radio. The items will include all types of written
work that could be broadcasted 'live' or recorded. (Clearly dramatic
presentation s{blocked}s will be developed in line with the subject matter.)
Music will be a regular feature plus news and school interest programmes.
The children will have many opportunities for speaking and listening and
with this s{blocked}s based approach will bring themes to life as they also
increase their presentation s{blocked}s and confidence.

Children will be trained in the positions required by the radio station.
E.g. Broadcasters, technicians, interviewers, researchers etc.

There is also the opportunity to work with Winchmore Secondary School in
order to promote transition and maintain a purposeful school link.
