The focus of the project is:
How can we make the transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3 be a positive experience for pupils?
Lea Valley High School and Oasis Academy
We will work together through a series of teacher meetings and workshops for Y6 and KS3/4 pupils.
Describe how your proposed project is innovative and explain how it ensures the development of excellence?
This will involve a media project including broadcasting to the local community through radio. It will focus on developing the skills of pupils and staff across KS2 and KS3 and will build on links with the partnership community.
What is the time frame/plan of action for your project?
July 2008-July 2009
June/July 2008: Meetings for involved staff from three schools to plan project.
Autumn/Spring Term 08/09: Development of media project with staff and pupils visiting each others’ schools.
Summer Term 09: Development of radio programme.
What are your process of evidence collection and evaluation to measure impact (methodology)?
Pupil questions about perceptions and experience.
Filming, tapes and animations.
What outcomes are you expecting – how could these be demonstrated/shared?
All school staff have greater knowledge of teaching methodologies.
KS3 teachers have raised expectations of KS2 pupil capabilities especially in ICT.
Pupils have a positive experience of transition process.
Achieve ICT Mark and NACE Award.
