Latymers D&T Project
The focus of the project is: To extend the contact with the two Primary Schools
And the lead school, Latymer. This will be carried out with a ‘Design Engineering project’ with Years 5,7, 8 and 9. The framework will follow the F1 in Schools format available to primary schools in 2009.
Describe how your proposed project is innovative and explain how it ensures the development of excellence?
The project is innovative as there are currently no links (that we know of) around the country for Primary and Secondary schools to collaborate on this project. The project will ensure the gifted and talented students we receive from the primary schools will have an applied knowledge of 2D design, PDT, using a laser cutter and CAM
What is the time frame/plan of action for your project?
As the year for the F1 in schools starts in November we will:
• Have a meeting Mid October to meet staff, discuss the task.
• Invite students over in November for an introduction and ‘race day’
• Invite staff November over for Training on 2D design and the laser cutter
• Visit the schools to set the task. Nov
• Visit the Schools in Jan for a recap and review along with students.
• Invite the Students in March a produce the designs for a ‘Time Trial’
• Allow time for development between March and June
• Meet at the end of June for the final competition between Latymer and the Two Primary’s
What are your process of evidence collection and evaluation to measure impact (methodology)?
We will use a creative Vada to record all teamwork and Vertical learning
Other methodology will be decided once task is underway.
