Name of School: Winchmore Contact person: Lesley Mansbridge lesley.mansbridge@winchmore.enfield.sch.uk
The focus of the project is:
How can creativity be developed in Y6/7 in subjects other than the Arts? We will be focusing on our Opening Minds Curriculum in Y7, and in the transfer from Y6 to Y7.
Working with Oakthorpe School . Winchmore will take the lead.We will also be sharing and developing practice with Salisbury who are doing a very similar project on creativity
Describe how your proposed project is innovative and explain how it ensures the development of excellence?
Although creativity is mentioned in all new schemes of work, there is very little available guidance or good practice. Through action research we hope to develop our own good practice and excellence in this area. Opening Minds is itself a new and innovative curriculum. We will focus on the two aspects- teaching creatively and teaching the skills of creativity.
What is the time frame/plan of action for your project?
Sept- October Planning including residential
October – March Action research working with external practitioners
May – July- Report and findings produced and published
What are your process of evidence collection and evaluation to measure impact (methodology)?
Feedback from staff and students – interviews, discussions, focus groups
Video of creativitity projects in action
What outcomes are you expecting – how could these be demonstrated/shared?
    •    Staff development through working together and with external practitioner- increased understanding of developing creativity and skills of teaching creatively
    •    Development of skills of creativity & creative thinking in students ( generating ideas, questioning assumptions, trying out alternative ideas, connecting ideas etc)
    •    Hopefully improved quality of teaching and learning with students experiencing new teaching and learning approaches.
